ABOUT LOWER SAHALI
Lower Sahali is the part of Sahali north of the Trans-Canada Highway, between the highway and downtown Kamloops, around Columbia Street West, Summit Drive and McGill Road. TRU's campus is beside it on the city's southwest slopes, Sahali Centre is on Columbia Street West, and Royal Inland Hospital is down Columbia Street.
Housing is older and more mixed than up the hill: apartments make up a large share, alongside single-family homes, some built before 1930, and townhomes and apartments from the 1980s. The Tournament Capital Centre opened next to TRU in 2007.

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DO NOT THINK TO ASK
In Lower Sahali, condition matters more than the year on paper. Older houses can hide original wiring and plumbing, and 1980s stratas can face large repair bills, so read the strata's depreciation report and the last two years of minutes before you remove subjects.
Peterson Creek Nature Park borders the area, and a 3 hectare grassfire burned there in June 2025. If you plan to rent the property, check the zoning and the City's rules on secondary suites. I have 18 years in construction and I am not a licensed home inspector, so I will tell you when to bring one in.

REAL ESTATE INSIGHTS
Buying or selling rural property raises questions that city listings never do: wells, septic, who plows the road, what the ALR allows.
The blog takes them one at a time, in plain language, from someone who has lived on rural property since 2008.
