ABOUT LOGAN LAKE
Logan Lake is a district municipality of about 2,300 people, roughly 60 km southwest of Kamloops. It was incorporated in 1970 to house workers for the Highland Valley copper mines, and Highland Valley Copper, about 17 km west of town, is still the major employer.
The town's slogan is "a lake a day as long as you stay", and it is not much of a stretch: Logan Lake itself is on the east edge of town, Tunkwa Provincial Park is about 16 km north, and Walloper Lake is on the way to the Coquihalla. The town sits at about 1,100 metres, so winters run longer and snowier than in Kamloops.

Contact JeremiaWhere is Logan Lake?
About 60 km southwest of Kamloops. Take the Coquihalla (Highway 5) south to the Lac Le Jeune and Logan Lake exit, then Highway 97D west into town; plan on about 45 minutes. Highway 97C carries on to Ashcroft in one direction and Merritt in the other.
Who lives in Logan Lake?
Mine and trades workers, young families, retirees, and outdoor people who want lakes and trails on the doorstep. It suits buyers who want a small town with schools, basic shopping and a golf course. The nearest hospitals are in Kamloops and Merritt.
What is the lifestyle like?
Fishing, hunting, sledding and trails. Tunkwa Provincial Park is about 16 km north, Meadow Creek Golf Club is just east of town, and the Highland Valley drive loop through the mine country is a classic summer outing. Logan Lake sits well above Kamloops, so expect a longer, snowier winter.
What are the properties like?
In town, mostly single-family homes, townhomes and manufactured homes, with acreage on the edges. Around nearby lakes including Paska, Face and Mile High, there are recreational lots and cabins, many without water or septic and some on seasonal roads.
Schools and services
Logan Lake has its own elementary and secondary schools. Homes in town are on district water and sewer; rural and lake properties use wells, hauled water and septic. The nearest hospitals are in Kamloops and Merritt.

Two things catch out-of-town buyers here. First, wildfire and insurance: Logan Lake was evacuated during the 2021 Tremont Creek fire, and insurers can pause new policies while a fire is active nearby. Line up insurance early, ask whether the property has had FireSmart work, and talk to me about a completion extension clause in fire season.
Second, the rec lots around Paska, Face and Mile High lakes often have no water, no septic and unconfirmed hydro, so price and plan them as cabins, not homes. I am not a licensed home inspector, and a qualified professional inspection is always recommended before any purchase.

REAL ESTATE INSIGHTS
Buying or selling rural property raises questions that city listings never do: wells, septic, who plows the road, what the ALR allows.
The blog takes them one at a time, in plain language, from someone who has lived on rural property since 2008.
