ABOUT UPPER SAHALI
Upper Sahali is the part of Sahali south of the Trans-Canada Highway and east of Highway 5A in Kamloops, at roughly 540 to 710 metres. The name comes from the Chinook Jargon word saghalie, meaning up or above, and MLS lists Upper and Lower Sahali as separate neighbourhoods.
Homes are mostly single-family houses, with townhome stratas and some apartments. Albert McGowan Park and its water park are in the neighbourhood, Peterson Creek Nature Park is next door, and TRU is an average 5 to 10 minute bus ride away.

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DO NOT THINK TO ASK
Upper Sahali sits beside the Trans-Canada Highway, and highway and heliport noise are part of the sound here. Visit at different times of day and listen before you write.
Peterson Creek Nature Park is next door, and a 3 hectare grassfire burned there in June 2025. On the steeper streets, look at retaining walls and drainage, and pull the City of Kamloops Property Information Report for the address. I have 18 years in construction and I am not a licensed home inspector, so I will tell you when to bring one in.

REAL ESTATE INSIGHTS
Buying or selling rural property raises questions that city listings never do: wells, septic, who plows the road, what the ALR allows.
The blog takes them one at a time, in plain language, from someone who has lived on rural property since 2008.
